Temu opens Nordic door as furniture firms eye broader European reach

Temu, the fast-growing e-commerce platform, has begun allowing local sellers in Denmark and Finland to join its marketplace, marking a significant expansion move in the Nordic region. The initiative, launched in July 2025, aims to give local businesses, including furniture retailers, access to a wider European customer base.

Initially established in both countries in 2023, Temu now invites local furniture companies to sell through its platform, which could offer exposure to millions of new consumers. The company's long-term objective is for 80% of its European sales to come from local sellers operating with regional warehouses.

This development is especially meaningful for furniture businesses in rural areas, where traditional brick-and-mortar retail can be difficult to access. 'Temu brings the world of products closer to customers,' said logistics expert Peter Nordgaard in a press release, highlighting the platform's role in bridging geographical gaps.

By opening its digital doors to local sellers, Temu aligns itself with a broader shift toward online retail while supporting the visibility and growth of Nordic furniture brands across Europe. The move signals a strategic blend of localisation and scale, offering new momentum to furniture firms in the digital economy.
