Homeware sales on the UK high street declined for the second consecutive week, according to BDO's latest High Street Sales Tracker for the week ending 29 June 2025. Total like-for-like (LFL) sales fell by 3.52%, marking the first overall sales decline after five weeks of growth.

Homeware LFL sales dropped by 1.92%, though this was measured against a weak base of -7.60% from the same period last year. In-store homeware sales showed a more positive trend, rising 7.22% compared to a -3.51% base last year, the third uplift in five weeks for the category.
Despite that, total in-store LFL sales across all categories declined by 2.08%, and online (non-store) LFL sales fell 3.39%, breaking a five-week streak of positive digital results.
BDO noted that the sales downturn came during a week of "dry, settled weather with plenty of sunshine and intense heat", contrasting with the cooler, cloudier conditions seen during the same period in 2024.
Footfall also fell across all retail formats, with high streets down 1.6%, shopping centres by 0.9%, and retail parks by 1.1%, resulting in a total footfall decrease of 1.3% for the week.
