A Danish carpet manufacturer has announced the resignation of CEO Rune Stephansen following a year marked by financial setbacks and external market pressures. The Herning-based manufacturer, which reported revenue of DKK 1.12 billion for 2024/25, a 3% drop from the previous year, also saw its pre-tax profit more than halved to DKK 28.7 million, down from DKK 61.9 million.

The company, Ege Carpets, attributed the downturn largely to macroeconomic headwinds, including "war, inflation and unstable supply chains". Despite growth in the first three quarters, a sharp decline in Q4 halted the expected annual progress.
Stephansen, who joined Ege Carpets in 2021 from HTH, said the group had used the year to strengthen its foundations through new collections, digital upgrades, and circular solutions. He stepped down on 2 July, having completed the transformation work he was hired for, according to the company.
CFO Kim Toft Høj Pedersen will act as interim CEO while the search for a successor is underway. Ege Carpets expects a modest rebound in 2025/26, forecasting revenue between DKK 1.15–1.20 billion and an EBIT margin of 6–8%.
