John Lewis floor cushion pulled from shelves over fire hazard fears

John Lewis has issued a recall of its "Carnival Floor Cushion" due to fire safety concerns. The multicoloured cushion, made in India and featuring a carry handle, was sold between July 2023 and February 2025.

According to the Office for Product Safety and Standards, the product "does not meet the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988" and poses "a risk of fire if exposed to an ignition source". The item has therefore been recalled from customers.

Buyers are urged to stop using the cushion immediately and return it to any John Lewis store for a full refund or exchange. For further assistance, customers can contact John Lewis customer services on 03456 049 049.

The recall highlights ongoing scrutiny around compliance with UK fire safety standards in household goods.
