Faulty bench pads spark urgent Asda product recall amid fire safety fears

Asda has issued an urgent recall of its George Home Bench Pads in all colours due to concerns the products may not comply with fire and furnishing regulations, posing a potential fire hazard.

The affected items, sold in black, tan, green, natural, and grey, were found in some cases to fail required safety standards. Asda warned that "some items may... present a risk of fire" and announced the decision to "recall the product".

Customers who purchased the bench pads are urged to return them to any Asda store for a full refund, with no receipt required. The products can be identified by the following barcodes: 506308909667 (black), 506308909668 (tan), 506308909669 (green), 506308939946 (natural), and 506308939947 (grey).

For further support, customers can contact Asda Customer Relations on 0800 952 0101.

The recall coincides with another alert from the Office for Product Safety and Standards regarding an electric toothbrush charger sold via TikTok Shop, which was found to have loose internal connections that pose a "serious fire risk".

Both incidents underscore the critical importance of product safety vigilance to prevent fire hazards in UK households.
