The UK furnishing industry welcomed 540 new business incorporations in June 2025, according to data from Companies House. This reflects continued entrepreneurial momentum across retail, manufacturing, and wholesale segments.

Retail accounted for 139 new entries, including 88 in furniture and lighting and 51 in carpets and floor coverings. Manufacturing saw 120 registrations, led by 92 in furniture production and supported by four new carpet manufacturers. Floor and wall coverings also saw 92 new incorporations, while wallpaper manufacturing recorded a single new entity.
The soft furnishings category added 17 new companies, and six new mattress manufacturers were registered. Wholesale of furniture, carpets, and lighting saw 52 incorporations, while 114 new agents began operations in the furniture and household goods sales sector. Furniture repair businesses contributed a further 23 registrations.
Despite economic uncertainty and shifting consumer sentiment, the data suggests a resilient appetite for growth and innovation within the UK furnishing market. The figures highlight a diverse spread of new ventures entering both traditional and specialised sectors across the industry.
