IKEA makes bold move with largest store outside Ireland in Waterford

IKEA is set to open its largest Irish store outside of Dublin in Waterford, signalling a significant step in its expansion across the country. The new 840 m² Plan and Order Point will open on 17 July at Tramore Road Business Park, just 1.5 km from Waterford City Centre.

This new format is the first of its kind in Ireland and features 100 products available for same-day purchase, as well as a Click & Collect service and return point. Operated on a cashless basis, the store focuses on convenience and accessibility.

Fifteen local employees have been hired to support customers with expert design advice. IKEA's five in-store specialists will help customers plan, deliver, and install home furnishing solutions tailored to their needs.

While smaller than the Carrickmines store in South Dublin, the Waterford location is over eight times the size of other Plan and Order Points across Ireland. Jayne Owen Gauld, Market Manager at IKEA Ireland, said the opening 'is a testament to our commitment to making IKEA more accessible and convenient.'

This launch is part of broader expansion plans, with three more Irish locations expected to open in the coming year.
