The manufacturer, Andrew Paul Furniture, will now formally enter liquidation. According to a legal notice under Rule 15.13 of the Insolvency (England and Wales) Rules 2016, directors are seeking approval for the company's winding-up resolution. The business has cited "ongoing market volatility and falling demand" as key reasons behind the closure.
The company's website has been replaced with a message stating "new website under construction," indicating the halt in operations. The closure may impact more than 170 jobs.
In its most recently filed accounts for the year ending 30 April 2023, Andrew Paul Furniture reported sales of £14.2m, marginally down from £14.3m in the prior year. However, pre-tax losses widened to £342,000 from £146,000.
The liquidation reflects broader challenges within the UK furniture manufacturing sector, which continues to face pressures from weakened consumer demand and persistent economic uncertainty.
