UK-based custom furniture startup Roomix has secured £850,000 in new funding to expand its platform offering bespoke furniture for modern families. Founded in 2022 by Shona Chalmers and Mark Apter, Roomix partners with local artisan joiners to produce made-to-order pieces that adapt with family life.

The raise, led by Simply Scaling, Syndicate Room, Fuel Ventures, and other angel investors, brings Roomix's total funding to over £1 million. The investment will support category expansion, technological development, and national growth. A key focus is Roomix's Supplier Portal, a proprietary tool enabling streamlined collaboration with its network of independent makers.
Positioned as an alternative to mass-produced, "fast furniture", Roomix champions sustainable design with a zero-inventory model that reduces waste and shortens delivery times. Its signature line of toddler furniture, inspired by Montessori principles, includes customisable towers, desks, and weaning tables that evolve with children's needs.
With a refreshed brand and new website, Roomix aims to capitalise on growing demand for personalisation, durability, and conscious consumerism. CEO Chalmers said the company's mission is to bring "high-quality, durable furniture that flexes with life" to families. The business now plans to scale operations across the UK and Europe, challenging industry norms with its slow furniture ethos.
