The company opening is Furniture Outlet. Nathan George, associate and head of agency at Kirkby Diamond, acted for the property owner, an independent company, to finalise the five-year lease. A smaller 500 square foot section of the shop front remains available for letting once planning permission for a new frontage is granted.
George described the arrival of Furniture Outlet as "a significant boost for Bedford town centre," highlighting the revitalisation of a large vacant unit. He noted that the retail property market remains active, mostly driven by smaller local independent retailers, making this large letting an exception.
He added that ongoing developments around St Paul's Square and the council's improvement efforts are already fostering increased confidence in the local retail sector. Since January, nine retail transactions have been completed, signalling positive momentum for the town's commercial prospects.
