Irish furniture retail sales recorded both annual and monthly growth in volume and value in May 2025, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO). Furniture and lighting sales saw a 10% increase in volume year-on-year, with a monthly rise of 1.2%. The value of these sales increased by 8.4% annually and 1.5% compared to the previous month.

In contrast, department stores experienced a decline, with annual volume falling by 4.2% and monthly volume down 3.7%. The value of department store sales decreased by 4.4% annually and 3.5% month-on-month.
Overall retail sales volume rose by 0.5% in May and grew 0.9% compared with May 2024. However, retail sales value declined by 0.7% month-on-month but increased 1.7% over the year to May 2025.
Online sales by Irish-registered companies accounted for 4.7% of total retail sales in May 2025, slightly down from 5.0% in April 2025 and 4.8% in May 2024.
