Axor and Antonio Citterio present three extraordinary bathroom concepts

Under the theme "Escape the Ordinary" Axor has partnered with Italian architect and designer Antonio Citterio to launch three visionary bathroom concepts. Drawing on the cultural depth of Japan, South Africa, and Italy, the collaboration merges elegance, innovation and personal comfort, serving the premium interiors sector with globally inspired yet deeply individual design.

Each bathroom is 'deeply inspired by the idea of a journey, both physical and sensory,' says Citterio. 'We envisioned journeys through Japan, South Africa and Italy, with each place offering a unique perspective on design, culture and the relationship with water.'

Japanese City Loft
Set in a minimalist Japanese residence, this concept features natural wood flooring, a monolithic marble washbasin, and Axor Citterio C fittings. 'The contrast between the rough concrete and the refined black mosaics … creates a serene yet sophisticated atmosphere, reflecting the duality of Japan's cultural heritage,' explains Citterio. Towering windows connect the shower with a historical garden. Three water experiences, rainfall, arced jet, and hand-held spray, are orchestrated through the Axor ShowerSelect ID thermostat. A brushed nickel finish unifies the design.

Western Cape Apartment Residence
Inspired by Cape Town's elemental palette, this bathroom integrates red clay plaster, reclaimed Palladian Terrazzo, and red mosaic tile. 'Each material … was chosen not only for its aesthetics but for its ability to tell a story,' says Citterio. The Axor ShowerSphere 370/220 2jet offers a luxurious yet water-efficient shower experience at just 8 L/min. Axor fixtures in brushed black chrome harmonise with the space's sustainability-driven ethos.

Mediterranean Hotel in Rome
Clad in Rosso Levanto marble and travertine, this Roman hotel bathroom captures 'the grandeur and richness of Roman culture,' says Citterio. The Axor ShowerSphere 250/160 1jet, Citterio E shower bar and 3jet hand-held shower create a multisensory experience. Guests can enjoy panoramic views of St. Peter's Basilica while surrounded by Axor's brushed bronze finishes, an ode to timeless luxury.

'To me, "Escape the Ordinary" embodies the idea of transforming the bathroom into more than just a functional space,' Citterio concludes. 'The simplicity and flexibility of Axor Citterio C allows for a seamless integration … turning it into an extraordinary feature of any space.'

For architects and designers, the AXOR x Citterio concepts offer a compelling blueprint for emotional, place-driven interiors.
