BSH ignites Egyptian industry with landmark factory

BSH Home Appliances, a subsidiary of Germany's Bosch, has opened its first manufacturing facility in both Egypt and Africa, with an investment of EUR 55 million. Located in Tenth of Ramadan City, the factory will produce home cooking stoves, with an annual output capacity of 350,000 units.

According to BSH, 50% of the stoves will be exported to regional markets across Africa and the Middle East. Future plans include expanding exports to Australia, Canada, and Latin America. The plant is expected to generate around 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The project, granted a "golden licence" by Egyptian authorities in 2023, was designed to operate as a carbon-neutral facility. BSH executives informed Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly of their intention to expand local operations and will submit detailed proposals in due course.

The company's interest in Egypt dates back to 2018, when it first considered establishing an EUR 80 million water heater and stove facility. A memorandum of understanding was signed in 2019 with Egypt's Ministry of Trade and Industry, paving the way for this latest milestone.

BSH described the launch as a "significant step" in its global manufacturing strategy and a "strong signal" of its confidence in the Egyptian market.
