3daysofdesign 2025 draws 45,000 attendees boosting Copenhagen's global design status

Copenhagen's 3daysofdesign festival returned from 18–20 June under the theme "KEEP IT REAL", transforming the city into eight thematic districts spotlighting authenticity in contemporary design. Each district, ranging from Holmen's "Transformations" to Kongens Nytorv's "Connections", featured installations, exhibitions and guided Design Ambassadors via local i‑Points.

Since its modest inception in 2013 with just four Danish brands, the festival has grown into a global event. This year, over 400 exhibitors and some 45,000 attendees participated, including major names such as Fritz Hansen, Carl Hansen & Søn, GUBI, Muuto and Iittala. The city-wide format preserved an intimate atmosphere unlike massive fairs such as Milan, fostering casual interactions among designers, buyers and press.

Highlight exhibits included Fritz Hansen's collaboration with Michael Anastassiades, Carl Hansen's heritage workshop, and Iittala's sci-fi‑inspired glassware. The event emphasised sustainability through initiatives like fungal leather and recycled marble designs. An independent fringe event, Other Circle, introduced multidisciplinary projects, sparking debate over preserving the festival's authentic spirit.

Overall, 3daysofdesign affirmed Copenhagen's emergence as an international design hub, celebrated for combining purpose, craftsmanship and creativity.
