German upholstered furniture manufacturers saw a notable rise in Eurozone sales during April 2025, despite declining domestic demand. According to preliminary data from the Association of the German Upholstered Furniture Industry (VdDP), total sales for April reached €83.34 million, a decrease of €2.15 million from March and 4.76% lower year-on-year.

Domestic sales experienced a sharper fall, dropping over €3 million to €54.76 million from €58.14 million in March. Compared to April 2024, domestic figures showed a marked reversal, as last year had seen a 13% increase.
Conversely, foreign markets drove growth, with total international sales rising to €28.58 million, up €1.24 million from the previous month and 16.42% year-on-year. The Eurozone saw the most significant surge, climbing to €11.47 million from €9.7 million in March, a 31.68% increase.
The VdDP highlighted that this is the first time in 2025 that Eurozone sales have reached double digits in millions, underlining the growing reliance on exports amid sluggish domestic demand. The data reflects shifting dynamics in market strength, with European neighbours showing increased interest in German-made upholstered furniture.
