IKEA marks 60 years of bold ideas at Kungens Kurva

IKEA is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its iconic Kungens Kurva store, the brand's largest and oldest retail location. Located in Sweden, the store has played a foundational role in shaping IKEA's identity, from introducing self-service shopping to launching the now-iconic "FRAKTA" blue bag.

Jesper Brodin, CEO of Ingka Group, described Kungens Kurva as "a symbol of us daring to think differently" and highlighted its legacy of innovation and customer focus. He noted that the store represents IKEA's core values of "simplicity, equality, trust, and care for people and planet", principles that continue to guide the company today.

Brodin expressed gratitude to the Swedish team, especially Emily Birkin and Linton Scarborough, for continuing the legacy "with passion and purpose." Reflecting on the store's history and its contributions to the global brand, he also expressed optimism for the future, stating he is confident "the brightest days for Kungens Kurva, and for IKEA, are still to come."

The anniversary marks not only a milestone for the store itself, but also a moment to reaffirm the brand's long-term vision and commitment to innovation, accessibility, and sustainability.
