Total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose by 4.68%, with homewares showing a modest increase of 1.29%, rebounding from a negative base of -0.12% for the same period last year.
However, in-store homewares sales fell by 3.11%, following two weeks of gains and a strong prior-year comparison of +13.95%. Overall in-store LFL sales rose by 3.32%, while non-store LFL sales increased by 4.45%, marking the sixth consecutive positive week for online channels.
BDO commented that both physical and online retail benefited, noting particularly strong fashion performance online. In contrast, homeware showed stronger in-store results, but lagged online.
Weather conditions were described as "fairly dry but a bit colder", with cloudy periods and some rainfall. This contrasted with last year's warmer, sunnier conditions.
Overall footfall declined by 1.1% year-on-year. High streets saw a drop of 2.1%, shopping centres fell by 1.0%, while retail parks experienced a slight rise of 1.0%.
