Finnish design houses Artek and Marimekko have partnered for a special furniture collection titled "Artek + Marimekko", celebrating both brands' rich creative heritage. The collaboration coincides with Artek's 90th anniversary and features classic furniture pieces by Alvar Aalto enhanced with Marimekko's iconic patterns.

The collection includes Stool 60, Bench 153B, and Table 90D, originally designed by Aalto between 1933 and 1945—now adorned with prints from Maija Isola's "Arkkitehti" series. Patterns such as "Lokki", "Seireeni", and "Kivet" are applied using a marquetry technique, which involves inlaying veneer to create detailed designs that shimmer under light.
Artek noted that this production method "minimises wood waste" while offering a unique visual experience. Rather than surface printing, the intricate application gives the pieces a tactile and luminous quality.
The "Artek + Marimekko" collection will preview during Copenhagen's 3daysofdesign festival from 17–21 June, in an installation by designer Linda Bergroth. An official launch is scheduled for September. The collaboration follows Artek's earlier anniversary project featuring Moomin illustrations and continues the brand's tradition of celebrating Finnish design through meaningful partnerships.
