Ikea has launched its first hotel in Spain, drawing widespread praise for its elegant simplicity and relaxing atmosphere. Located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, just five minutes from Las Alcaravaneras beach, the adult-only hotel features minimalist Scandinavian design, a compact outdoor pool, a garden terrace, and a buffet-style restaurant. The hotel is 25 minutes from the island's main airport and includes free Wi-Fi and modern interiors described as offering "refined elegance". Many visitors have highlighted the pool area as a standout feature. One reviewer on Booking.com said it was 'lovely, clean, modern with a lovely pool/seating area'. Another added, 'Very clean, nice pool area with good opportunities for sunbathing... good breakfast.'
Encouraged by its success, Ikea has announced plans for a second boutique hotel in the area, Las Vegas de Ciudad Jardín Suites, combining two nearby chalets to create 21 additional rooms.
The project marks a significant step into the hospitality sector for the furniture giant, known primarily for its affordable homeware and flat-pack furniture. The stylish and serene atmosphere of the Gran Canaria location appears to have struck the right note with early guests.
