Interior designers are already growing weary of several prominent 2025 home decor trends. While tastes vary, a few patterns have clearly overstayed their welcome.

Claire Garner dismisses "bulbous, sculptural sofas" for lacking comfort and overwhelming spaces. Kate Palmer criticises "fast furniture" for being mass-produced and lacking sustainability, urging investment in quality, timeless pieces instead. Josh Branigan warns against "maximalism overkill", which can result in cluttered, disjointed rooms. He also feels boucle is being overused and recommends mixing textures instead.
Colleen Bennett, however, celebrates maximalism but admits fatigue with "colour drenching", particularly tile-drenched interiors. Garner agrees that some design ideas, like patterned ceilings, can become too dominant, saying they "distract rather than enhance".
Despite differences, all designers agree that following trends blindly can compromise personal style. The consensus? Home decor should reflect individual taste, not fleeting popularity.
