A new dawn for Fritz Hansen under the leadership of the creative director

Fritz Hansen, one of Denmark's oldest and most prestigious furniture brands, is embracing a modern era under its new creative director, Els Van Hoorebeeck. The Belgian designer, appointed in November 2024, brings extensive experience from roles at &Tradition, Vitra, and The Office Group. Her first project, "7:14 AM", reimagines Arne Jacobsen's iconic Series 7 chair in pastel hues inspired by the Danish dawn.

For the upcoming 3daysofdesign festival, Van Hoorebeeck will unveil the "After Series" in collaboration with Michael Anastassiades. Known for his work in lighting, Anastassiades drew from Danish design legends to craft a dining table and chair ensemble that emphasises craftsmanship, clarity, and layered geometry. He praised Fritz Hansen's timber expertise, noting the challenges and rewards of sculpting the curved wooden backrest.

Van Hoorebeeck aims to reinterpret the brand's legacy through new storytelling and global outreach, particularly in Asia and North America. While the brand continues to expand, recently acquiring outdoor furniture firm Skagerak, its core remains unchanged: creating timeless pieces of emotional and monetary value. As Van Hoorebeeck puts it, Danish design is about "an evolution not a revolution", elevating everyday life through refined living.
