The volume (working-day adjusted) of Dutch goods exports in April was 0.5 per cent higher than in April 2024, reports CBS. This was mainly because exports of machinery and food and beverages were higher. The volume of goods imports was also 0.5 per cent higher in April than in April 2024. More machinery, electrical machinery and food and beverages were mainly imported.

Conditions for exports in June equally unfavourable
CBS also publishes conditions for exports each month in the Export Radar. Conditions are largely determined by developments in the main sales markets for Dutch exports and by the development of the Dutch competitive position. The indicators in the radar correlate well with exports, but improving conditions do not necessarily mean higher export growth.
In the June CBS Export Radar, conditions for exports were as unfavourable as in the April radar. German producer confidence was less negative and the contraction of German manufacturing output was smaller. However, real exchange rate developments were more unfavourable.
Exports of goods accounted for almost three quarters of total exports. On exports of services, CBS does not report monthly. Information on total exports is published by CBS on a quarterly and annual basis. The figures in this report are preliminary and subject to revision.
