Obi strengthens Swiss presence with new store acquisitions

Obi is continuing its expansion in Switzerland with the acquisition of two "Do it + Garden" stores from Migros Luzern. Located in Länderpark Stans (Nidwalden) and Steinhausen (Zug), both sites will be officially transferred to Obi on 1 September 2025.

The stores, currently operating under the "Do it + Garden" brand until 28 June, will undergo major renovations and reopen as Obi branches at the end of October. The Steinhausen store covers 3,300 square metres, while Stans has 3,220 square metres of retail space.

Additionally, Obi plans to open two new locations in western Switzerland, in Carouge and Nyon, this October, further extending its reach in a region where it has had limited presence.

Jochen Ludwig, CEO of Obi Group Holding, stated that the new stores "ideally complement our branch network" and promised customers "inspiring ideas, expert advice, and a wide selection".

All current employees at the acquired sites will remain with Migros Luzern until the handover, ensuring continued employment through the transition.

This move follows Obi's full takeover of Swiss operations from its former franchise partner Migros in April 2025, marking a significant step in its regional growth strategy.
