IKEA celebrates 43 years in France with billion-dollar investment and Versailles collaboration

IKEA is strengthening its long-standing partnership with France with a substantial investment of €1.2 billion until 2026. The store, which has been operating in France since 1981, is thereby continuing to build its presence in cities and beyond. Recent openings include new shops in city centres such as IKEA Rivoli and IKEA Place d'Italie in Paris, examples of how IKEA wants to increase its accessibility, also with a view to expanding into medium-sized cities.

Besides retail expansion, IKEA is investing in innovative logistics solutions. These include a new distribution centre in Limay that will be supplied by river transport. Progress is also being made on circularity: a new mattress recycling facility was opened near Montpellier last week.

To mark the tenth anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement, IKEA announced that it will invest an additional €100 million in renewable energy and climate-friendly initiatives. These steps underline the company's commitment to operate more sustainably and future-proof.

"We Choose France," IKEA says, thanking the French government for its cooperation and space to test and implement new solutions. The intensive relationship with France has helped develop innovative and climate-conscious strategies, according to IKEA.
