The world is full of chairs, yet a few rise above the ordinary. With its latest launch, OneCollection, the company behind House of Finn Juhl, unveils a chair stripped back to its essence: clean lines, unmatched craftsmanship, and a design that speaks for itself. The KS1 is a stackable chair in solid hardwood, comfortable to sit in, pleasant to touch, easy to maintain, and built for everyday use. The chair can be experienced during 3daysofesign 2025 at Galleri Benoni in central Copenhagen from June 18. – 20. 2025.
The chair is designed by Kasper Salto, furniture designer and trained cabinetmaker, known for creating thoughtful design solutions for private homes, workplaces, and public spaces. With the KS1 Chair, Salto wanted to return to the starting point: to design a fundamental, well-considered chair using a minimum of materials. Its clear, welcoming expression makes it a natural fit for churches, cultural institutions, and settings where usability and atmosphere go hand in hand. Salto explains that the goal was to create an archetypal chair with a strong construction and durable joints, built to withstand use over generations.

"While developing the KS1, I looked at countless chairs and realized that stackable chairs made entirely from solid wood are actually quite rare, both in contemporary and historical designs. Most wooden chairs include parts made from molded plywood. And while that has its advantages, it also demands significantly more resources, requiring glue between each layer and heat during production," he says.
The chair's construction is simple, which makes the connection points between components especially important. To test the strength of these joints, Salto built the first prototype himself.
He explains that the collaboration with OneCollection came naturally, not just because of a long-standing friendship and previous projects, but especially due to the company's deep expertise in producing high-quality furniture.
The KS1 Chair is made at OneCollection's own workshop in Vejen, Denmark, the same facility where House of Finn Juhl's furniture is produced. It's available in solid FSC-certified oak, beech, or ash, with either webbing in black or natural tones (made from 90% recycled cotton) or an upholstered seat.
