Nature is a key feature for this year's furniture and interior trend. Mixing different materials and colours can give your home a much more unique style and individualistic touch.

But it's not just about design and shape — the future of furniture is also heavily influenced by colour, texture, and material choice. Janne Muri, responsible for CMF (Colours, Materials, Finishes) at Stressless, highlights clear directions for the year.

Trends 2025: Natural, light and harmony
Based on global trends, Stressless has identified three main directions for 2025.
1. Serene shades: Soothing colours inspired by nature
-These are muted shades inspired by the natural world, featuring elements of green and blue, colours that are both familiar and yet feel original.
– These tones are warm, relaxing, and easy to combine with other colours. They bring a sense of calmness but also a hint of playfulness, says Muri.
2. Light neutrals: Light, Nordic and exclusive
-Another clear trend is light, neutral tones such as off-white and beige.
– This is a distinct market trend right now. Light tones give an exclusive feel and appear modern. We even see that families with young children are now choosing very light furniture. It surprises us, but it also shows how important aesthetic expression has become, she says with a smile.
3. Earthy and warm colours
This direction incorporates warm earthy tones, often combined with natural textures and materials.
– The darker earthy colours we now see are burgundy and brown shades with strong red undertones. In addition, there's a lot of dark olive green, brown-black, and burnt tones, says Muri.
Organic and soft shapes
When it comes to materials, bouclé fabrics with rich, textured finishes and a variety of tactile weaves have become very popular. Another trend is 'camouflage weave', where multiple yarn colours are used to create exciting depth in the fabric.
– We are seeing that soft, organic shapes are trending. Furniture should not be hard and stiff but rather feature soft and curved forms. There's also a trend towards rough and unpolished elements like stone and wood. Additionally, materials such as leather and textiles are being mixed more extensively than before, Muri says.
Nature and calmness at home
Stressless operates internationally but with attention to regional differences.
– Trends tend to catch on in Europe before making their way to the US, and while Nordic customers prefer more muted tones, people in Southern Europe like stronger, more vibrant expressions. We need to balance this within a single collection — it requires careful planning and intuition, she says.
Still, there are common features emerging — an increasing interest in cohesive and calming interiors.
– Colours that feel natural and harmonious are popular all over the world right now. The major trend is nature and the need to find peace and rest. This is also reflected in our collections. The home should be decorated as a safe and comforting haven, concludes Muri.
