Next has announced plans to significantly expand its footprint at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Dartford by relocating into the former House of Fraser unit. The move will see the fashion and homewares retailer increase its current store size from 44,600sq ft to 133,000sq ft, effectively tripling its existing space.

The larger store, expected to open in 2026, will become one of Next's biggest locations nationwide. It will offer an extended product range, including an expanded homeware selection, as the brand continues to strengthen its presence in physical retail.
The new unit was previously occupied by House of Fraser, which closed as part of wider department store closures across the UK. Next's expansion is viewed as a strategic response to shifting retail dynamics and ongoing customer demand for in-person shopping experiences.
James Waugh, Centre Director at Bluewater, welcomed the development, stating: 'We're thrilled to see Next significantly expanding its presence here at Bluewater, following many successful years in its current space. This move not only reinforces Bluewater's position as a leading retail destination but also highlights the continued confidence in bricks-and-mortar retail that we're seeing.'
The announcement underlines Next's ongoing investment in large-format retail environments and supports Bluewater's aim to maintain a diverse and high-quality tenant mix.
