The appointment will be formally presented at an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM) in July. Further information will be shared via Signify's website.

Gerard van de Aast, chairman of Signify's Supervisory Board, called Tempelman "the clear choice to lead the company forward" and praised his "strategic vision, energy and proven track record in achieving sustainable growth and building an inclusive performance-driven culture."

Tempelman is currently CEO of Eneco, a renewable energy company operating in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the UK. Under his leadership, Eneco's profitability has tripled since 2020 and annual greenhouse gas emissions fell by 40 per cent. Previously, he held various executive positions at Shell in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

'With more than 130 years of history, Signify has a strong reputation as an innovator,' said Tempelman. 'The combination of innovation, drive and social commitment within the company is inspiring. I look forward to continuing to build the future of light and lighting together, with a positive impact on people and communities worldwide.'
