Danish exhibition supplier revived after acquisition by rival

A major shake-up in the Danish trade fair industry has concluded with the acquisition of a bankrupt supplier's assets by a local competitor, signalling a strategic consolidation in the sector.

After filing for bankruptcy twice within four months, a well-established exhibition stand provider from Viborg (JYSK Display) has seen its remaining operations absorbed by a rival firm, Expo Partner, based in the same city. The move ends months of uncertainty for the approximately 50 affected employees.

The bankrupt company had struggled financially for years, recording consistent losses since 2020, except for a minor profit in 2022. Its 2023 financial results revealed a deficit of DKK 7.1 million, dragging its holding company's equity to a staggering negative DKK 29.3 million. An attempted rescue by investors failed to materialise into recovery.

The acquiring firm, which has posted solid profits of DKK 16.1 million before tax over the past two years, sees the takeover as a strategic opportunity to expand its influence in the exhibition and trade fair market.

'Jysk Display has been a strong and respected player in the industry for many years. This acquisition gives us the opportunity to continue parts of the solid foundation and at the same time offer even stronger solutions to our customers,' said Steffen Dalsgaard, CEO of Expo Partner.

The acquired assets are now being integrated into ongoing operations, with expectations that the merger will enhance service capabilities and fortify market position. While the collapse marks the end of an era for a long-standing industry name, it simultaneously opens the door for renewed growth under new leadership.
