The iconic villa of interior designer Jan des Bouvrie, who passed away in 2020, is once again the subject of conversation, this time due to a substantial price reduction. The Bergerac estate in Naarden, which was the private and professional domain of the renowned designer for many years, is currently on the market for €6,975,000. That is more than three million euros below the original asking price of €10 million in 2022.

The property was put on the market by Des Bouvrie's widow, Monique des Bouvrie, after his death. In 2023, the price was adjusted for the first time to €8.25 million. The villa was then temporarily taken off the market, only to return in 2024 with a reduced asking price of €7,750,000. The most recent reduction is intended to rekindle interest in a challenging property market.
The sale of the property was previously hampered by a family dispute over the estate, in which Des Bouvrie's two eldest children found themselves at odds with Monique. That dispute has now been resolved, allowing estate agents Voorma en Walch Makelaars to resume the sale process in earnest.
The villa itself is grand in every respect. With a living area of 1,344 m², the property offers space for several living rooms, an indoor swimming pool, a wine cellar, wellness facilities, office space and guest quarters. The spacious garden and location in exclusive Naarden, with excellent access to Amsterdam and Utrecht, make it a particularly attractive property for wealthy buyers looking for luxury, privacy and space.
