J2 Flooring Ltd has acquired VAR Technology Ltd, known for its precision cutting and bespoke LVT formats. The acquisition aligns with J2's long-term vision to expand its UK and international footprint while deepening control over the production process from concept to completion.
As part of the agreement, VAR founder Shaun Baston has joined the J2 board as a Director and Shareholder. Recognised for pioneering advanced LVT techniques, Baston's expertise is expected to play a key role in J2's innovation pipeline. He said the partnership would 'push the boundaries of what's possible with LVT, both in terms of visual impact and product performance'.
The integration of VAR's technical capabilities allows for the production of intricate patterns, such as parquet effects and geometric layouts, which have earned favour with designers, architects, and distributors seeking high-end flooring solutions. Managing Director Stephen Latham described the acquisition as a "strategic alliance", enhancing the company's agility, product quality, and design flexibility.
The move also supports J2's commitment to UK-based manufacturing by reducing dependence on global supply chains, shortening lead times, and reinforcing quality control. With the transition already underway, customers can expect faster service, expanded product ranges, and broader customisation options.
Both parties see the collaboration as a springboard for international growth, particularly in markets with rising demand for premium, design-led flooring. This integration sets the stage for the development of next-generation LVT products that blend artistry with performance.
