Europe’s luxury furniture market poised to reach $26.7 billion by 2032

The European luxury furniture market is set to reach a value of USD 26.7 billion by 2032, rising from USD 17.4 billion in 2025, according to a new report by Persistence Market Research. This growth represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.3% over the forecast period from 2025 to 2032, fuelled by urbanisation, increasing disposable incomes, and a growing demand for personalisation and sustainability.

High-end consumers in Europe are increasingly seeking bespoke, environmentally conscious furniture, and brands are responding by using FSC-certified wood, recycled metals, and organic fabrics. The market is evolving to accommodate high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) who are looking for exclusivity in both residential and commercial settings.

'Increasing demand for high-quality, customisable, and sustainable home furnishings' is a major market driver, the report states.

The residential sector is projected to maintain dominance, claiming 63% of the market share by 2025. This is closely tied to the surge in personalised home décor and premium living preferences. Meanwhile, the commercial sector, especially hospitality, is experiencing growth through luxury hotel refurbishments and designer installations.

'Luxury real estate developments and rising urbanisation' are key factors in the steady growth of this segment. The trend toward multifunctional, space-saving furniture in urban areas is also shaping product design.

The United Kingdom is expected to lead the market, holding 51.4% of the total share in 2025, supported by robust online sales and ongoing luxury hotel renovations. The online retail segment, projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.3%, is becoming an increasingly significant sales channel, driven by consumer preference for convenience.

Scandinavian designers such as Carl Hansen & Søn and Gubi are highlighted in the report for their appeal among consumers seeking sustainable luxury. The popularity of modular and multifunctional furniture, especially in urban settings, continues to influence demand across product types including tables, chairs, sofas, lighting, and accessories.

Germany and France also represent vital regional markets. Germany's emphasis on craftsmanship and France's blend of heritage and modern functionality drive innovation. Both countries are seeing a rise in eco-conscious consumption, particularly in luxury segments.

However, premium pricing and economic volatility remain challenges. 'High-quality materials, craftsmanship, and custom designs drive up costs,' making the market largely accessible only to affluent buyers. Economic downturns may also dampen discretionary spending.

Despite this, significant opportunities lie in expanding online sales channels and tapping into the growing sustainability movement. 'Consumers are increasingly prioritising eco-friendly and ethically sourced furniture,' the report notes. Brands that adopt transparent and green manufacturing practices are likely to gain a competitive edge.

With key players including Roche Bobois, Fendi Casa, B&B Italia, and Minotti leading the market, Europe's luxury furniture sector is primed to meet the demands of a clientele that values both craftsmanship and conscience.
