Zanotta and Vincent van Duysen present Fedrigo: new idea of comfort

Italian design icon Zanotta has announced a major new collaboration with renowned Belgian architect and designer Vincent Van Duysen, introducing Fedrigo, a sophisticated system of modular and monobloc sofas and poufs. The collection marks a pivotal evolution for Zanotta, blending the brand's radical design heritage with Van Duysen's classical, sensorial design philosophy.

This partnership reflects Zanotta's ongoing commitment to expand its creative dialogue while remaining anchored in its legacy of innovation, design culture, and artisanal Italian quality.

'Clearly, Zanotta's formal and linguistic heritage is a rich one. The brand has collaborated with the greatest masters of Italian design, and some of its iconic pieces have crossed the ages to the point of becoming an integral part of our cultural landscape,' said Van Duysen. 'As I often say, it's all about synergy. I approach each collaboration as a relationship, in which I immerse myself deeply to capture the essence of the brand I'm working with. This first collection for Zanotta represents a precious opportunity for me. To contribute, in my own way, to the history of this iconic house.'

Fedrigo's design centres around comfort and elegance. Its fluid lines and generous proportions invite relaxation, while the seamless integration of backrest and armrests gives a sense of harmony and sophistication. Ergonomically designed cushions enhance the experience, supporting both aesthetics and wellbeing.

Sustainability plays a key role in the collection. Developed in collaboration with Zanotta's Research & Development team, Fedrigo features a plywood frame filled with CIRCULARREFOAM®, a polyurethane foam made with recycled polyols. The recycled PET fibre cover, secured with velcro, along with the modular, fully disassemblable system, ensures ease of recycling and long-term maintenance. The design avoids industrial adhesives, and the fully removable upholstery enables straightforward replacement and care.

Van Duysen described the creative process as both challenging and rewarding: 'The main challenge was how to integrate Zanotta's DNA while proposing a concept that made sense to them and to me. Right from the briefing, which was very clear, our proposal found a favourable echo, which reinforced our confidence. However, in any creative process, you have to remain flexible, and know how to trust in the expertise of craftsmen and in your personal intuition. I approached this collection as a real challenge from the outset, because it meant exploring a sofa system that was totally new to my design practice.'

With Fedrigo, Zanotta reinvigorates its design language through an elegant, responsible, and emotionally resonant project that points the brand toward a new horizon—one where form, function, and sustainability coexist seamlessly.
