Promising outlook for interzum 2025

The global industry turns its attention to Cologne

From 20 to 23 May 2025, interzum will once again become the epicentre of global innovation in furniture production and interior design. More than 1,600 exhibitors from over 55 countries will gather at the world's leading trade fair to showcase groundbreaking solutions for a more sustainable industry, united under the central theme: Rethinking Resources: Circular and Bio-based Solutions.

The event seeks to address key questions shaping the sector's future: How can we use resources more efficiently? What role can bio-based materials play in large-scale production? And how can circular models become standard industry practice? These topics will be brought to life through product presentations, trend forums and a diverse programme of lectures and exhibits.

'This year more than ever, interzum will be a venue for dialogue, ideas and transformation. We're looking forward to welcoming the international furniture supplier industry to Cologne – with the shared goal of promoting the use of sustainable materials, circular processes and innovative technologies. This transition towards an industry that's responsible and fit for the future is exactly what interzum, as the leading international trade fair, is all about,' declares interzum Director Maik Fischer.

To support professional engagement, interzum 2025 is divided into three themed segments:

  • Function & Components: Exploring technological advancements in fittings, lighting and semi-finished furniture products.
  • Materials & Nature: Focusing on eco-conscious materials, surfaces and treatments.
  • Textile & Machinery: Highlighting cutting-edge textile applications and manufacturing technologies.

A standout feature of the fair is the interzum Trend Stage, located on Boulevard North, curated in partnership with TRENDFILTER®, Haute Innovation, and the Vincentz Network. It will host internationally renowned speakers exploring pivotal trends in materials and design. Many sessions are accredited for continuing professional development by the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects, offering up to ten CPD credits.

The interzum Product Stage will run in parallel, spotlighting company innovations through short, impactful presentations.

Three special trend forums will further deepen the dialogue:

  • Biocircular Materials – tackling CO₂ reduction and closed-loop product cycles.
  • Rethink Furniture – Less, but Better – examining how smart technologies foster durable, minimalist designs.
  • Digital Product Passport: Pathway to Circularity – focusing on transparency and traceability across supply chains.

Adding a lighter touch, the new #ILoveMyinterzum space will offer interactive experiences, while a daily Happy Hour on the piazza from 20–22 May invites attendees to unwind and connect.

A major highlight is the interzum award, which will this year feature a new "Rethinking Resources" category. From 146 submissions by 80 exhibitors across 23 countries, the best will be recognised and exhibited on Boulevard North.

Among the 2025 exhibitors are leading global names such as Häfele, Hettich, Blum, Egger, Arpa, Leggett & Platt, and Swiss Krono. Several returning companies include Fritz Kohl, Rehau and Ergomotion. A wide international audience is also anticipated, with delegations confirmed from IKEA, AUDI AG, Chanel, BMW Group, Poltrona Frau, Vitra and many more.
