ICDLI introduces digital HPL Compendium at interzum 2025

'The new digital format ensures broader access and immediate usability for industry professionals'

The International Committee of the Decorative Laminates Industry (ICDLI) will return to interzum in Cologne this May, presenting new tools and technical developments for the High Pressure Laminate (HPL) sector. The 2025 edition of the world's leading trade fair for furniture production and interior design will take place from 20 to 23 May. ICDLI will be located in Hall 05.2, Stand G079.

A core focus for the association at this year's edition is the launch of a new digital version of the HPL Compendium, described by ICDLI as an industry-spanning reference work. The revised German-language edition, which replaces the previously print-based format, now includes more than 170 pages covering material properties, production methods, processing techniques, and sustainability practices related to HPL. According to ICDLI, the compendium has been restructured to offer an SEO-optimised, user-friendly interface and will be expanded to include an English version later this year.

The new digital format ensures broader access and immediate usability for industry professionals, architects, educators and students,' says the ICDLI. The release is part of a broader effort by the association to 'open a new chapter in knowledge transfer' and support consistent technical knowledge-sharing across the value chain.

In addition to product and knowledge launches, ICDLI will host a series of brief expert talks at their stand throughout the fair, addressing regulatory developments, material innovations and application-specific insights.

A keynote by Dr Arne Schirp of the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research (WKI) is scheduled for 22 May at 10:20 a.m. on the interzum Trend Stage. Titled "HPL: Paths to a greener future", the presentation will discuss approaches to environmental performance within the laminate industry, focusing on current research and lifecycle assessments.

Further technical content will be presented at the ICDLI stand by Julia Zink from the Wood Technology Development and Testing Laboratory in Dresden, who will speak on indoor air emissions and VOC testing protocols related to HPL materials.

interzum 2025 positions ICDLI as central information and networking node for professionals working with laminates across sectors including manufacturing, design, architecture, and education. As the official association representing European HPL manufacturers and their suppliers, ICDLI continues to engage in cross-sector dialogue aimed at regulatory alignment, sustainability, and innovation integration.
