In2house, the member-owned company behind furniture chains Møblér, Hjemme Hos, and Danbo Møbler, has appointed Torben Bechmann as its new CEO.
Bechmann, formerly the IT and finance chief, replaces Mikael Kold, who steps back after seven years as both chairman and director, a dual role he called 'not ideal in the long term'.

Kold, who will remain chairman, acknowledged the need for digital transformation and stated: 'I am born in the analogue age, and it is not me who should lead us through the digital transition.' Bechmann's background at Bilbasen, Coolshop, and Fletco gives him a rare mix of commercial, IT, and financial experience. His appointment is expected to make In2house more data-driven to strengthen competitiveness.
Alongside leadership changes, In2house has posted positive financial results for 2024, reporting a profit of DKK 4.1 million after tax, up from DKK 3 million in 2023. The chains, with over 70 independently-owned stores, delivered an estimated 7–8% profit margin on nearly DKK 1 billion in revenue.
Kold attributes the resilience to three factors: strong local roots, professional in-store service, and a targeted product range. The stores position themselves between premium design retailers and budget chains like Jysk and Ikea, catering to an older, quality-conscious demographic.
According to In2house, market share has also increased. This is based on comparisons between their own index data and Statistics Denmark figures, supported by supplier feedback.
With stable financials and new leadership focused on digital strategy, In2house appears poised to adapt to an evolving retail landscape.
