Freifrau introduces swing seats and modular updates to Marie collection

'The modular approach is intended to support differentiated planning scenarios'

Known for its upholstered seating rooted in craftsmanship and understated design, German furniture manufacturer Freifrau has extended its Marie collection for 2025 with several new configurations. The collection, originally launched in 2023 and designed by Hoffmann Kahleyss Design, now includes swing seats, a high-back lounge chair, barstools in three heights, and expanded frame options across the lounge and armchair models.

Among the additions are two new lounge swing seats, available in high- and low-back formats, suspended via black ropes with optional single- or double-point ceiling mounts. These models integrate metal reinforcement within the suspension system and are upholstered in fabric or leather options across Freifrau's materials portfolio. The seats are fitted with stainless steel connectors and are suited for room heights starting at 2.20 metres.

The barstool range has been expanded with three fixed-height variations intended for kitchen, counter, and bar use. Each maintains the Marie family's core upholstered shell structure while adapting to different height specifications and usage environments.

'The barstools fit seamlessly into the Marie family,' Freifrau stated. 'Whether in modern eat-in kitchens or as an eye-catcher in stylish bars, the barstools provide versatile options for seating zones.'

Freifrau has also introduced several new base formats across the lounge and armchair categories, including wooden frames with return mechanisms, X-base options, trestle legs, central legs, and four-legged steel constructions. These mechanical configurations are designed to support rotating and tilt functionalities in both high and low seating variants. The lounge chair high back is newly launched, designed to align with domestic or hospitality zones where upright posture or privacy is required.

Frame flexibility extends to the Marie Ottoman, now available with X-base, central, or steel leg formats, complementing the chair variants within the same system.

Freifrau indicated that the modular approach is intended to support differentiated planning scenarios. 'The new swivel frame options, be it the star base, the cross base, or the new wooden base with a practical return mechanism, create the basis for creative furnishing concepts,' the brand noted in its release.

The ongoing development of the Marie product family reflects a design direction based on repeatable components, functional adaptability, and system expansion. The launch positions the collection for continued specification in hospitality, residential, and contract contexts across European markets in 2025.
