Dorik is a collection of tables inspired by the timeless grandeur of the Doric columns from classical Greek architecture. Like its architectural muse, Dorik is characterised by timeless elegance and a simple yet clean design, defined by harmonious proportions.
Each table is meticulously crafted with exceptional attention to detail, showcasing the technical mastery of rotational moulding. Supported by a single leg, Dorik offers a versatile collection in different sizes, including options for meeting tables.
'Dorik is born from our philosophy of creating more humane and welcoming environments for work and social interaction. It is a collection that connects indoors and outdoors, reflecting the growing importance of hybrid spaces designed for working and sharing food and moments,' explains Soledat Berbegal, Corporate Reputation Director and Board Member at Actiu.
She also highlights: 'It has been an extraordinary collaboration with Odosdesign, a studio that deeply understands our essence, our production methods, and our approach to design. Dorik is an example of how to develop a sustainable, healthy proposal full of formal sensitivity, thanks to its rounded, curved elements that evoke the columns of Mediterranean architecture.'
The Red Dot Design Award is one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world, organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany, an institution dedicated to promoting excellence in product design, concepts, and communication projects.
Dorik's design freedom allows it to adapt to a wide range of spaces. It elegantly merges architecture and design, standing out for its intricate details and refined textures. The collection features a separation between the rotational-moulded base and a tabletop available in different materials, such as porcelain and melamine, among others, offering remarkable versatility.
'This award is a recognition of the work we do every day in the studio, especially in long-term development projects, and it reinforces the decisions we made in the past. As designers, our role is to help companies identify market opportunities and shape them through solutions that combine concept, technical development, and narrative. In an environment where many product types are oversaturated, achieving a product that functions well and has character relies on the coherence between the company's message, the technical solidity of the development, and those formal and conceptual details that make it unique,' says Ana Segovia, designer at Odosdesign.
This is the first product design collaboration between Odosdesign and Actiu, although the two have previously collaborated on art direction projects since 2014, including the "Cool Working" graphic campaign, which won the Red Dot Award in Communication Design 2017 in the Corporate Publishing category.
