Danish lighting company returns to growth with strong Scandinavian sales

A Danish lighting company has reported a seven percent rise in revenue for 2024, reaching DKK 897 million, following a challenging year in 2023. The company's profit after tax climbed to DKK 119 million, up from DKK 75 million the previous year.

The annual report for Louis Poulsen credits the recovery to increased sales in the Scandinavian market, with moderate progress in other parts of Europe. However, demand outside Europe remained weak due to global uncertainty. Despite low consumer confidence and ongoing geopolitical tensions, the company noted that "global brand momentum" helped drive its performance.

Looking ahead, Louis Poulsen expects revenue to grow by between two and eight percent in 2025 but acknowledges that market conditions remain uncertain. The company stated that navigating the current economic climate requires it "to be agile in order to attract more customers, both new and returning".

Founded in Copenhagen in 1874, Louis Poulsen celebrated its 150th anniversary last year. It originally began as a wine importer but shifted its focus to lighting in the early 20th century. Over the decades, it has collaborated with renowned designers including Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, and Verner Panton, producing iconic lamps such as the "Koglen", "Snowball", and "Panthella".

Since 2018, Louis Poulsen has been owned by the Italian design group Flos B&B Italia Group.
