Antonio Citterio redefines outdoor elegance with the "Tilos Collection"

Internationally acclaimed designer Antonio Citterio introduces the Tilos Collection, a refined outdoor furniture series that blends the charm of mid-century design with the precision of contemporary industrial techniques. Designed for modern outdoor living and dining spaces, Tilos reflects Citterio's long-standing commitment to reinterpreting classic furniture forms for today's world.

'One of my recurring design themes is revisiting classic typologies in furniture and updating them through contemporary dimensions and industrial processes. My work is a continuous exploration of how these forms can evolve, balancing tradition with innovation to meet the needs of contemporary living,' said Antonio Citterio.

Inspired by the archetypal outdoor seating of the 1950s and 1960s, traditionally crafted from bamboo and rattan, the Tilos Collection reimagines these iconic shapes using advanced materials and production methods. This design evolution allows for the timeless spirit of outdoor leisure to be preserved, while also meeting today's standards for durability, comfort, and style.

At the heart of the collection is a distinctive shell constructed from metal and woven acrylic rope, a material choice that provides both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. The shell cradles plush cushions, ensuring comfort while withstanding the demands of outdoor use.

The shell is mounted on a versatile structural frame, available in either wood or metal, offering adaptability across a range of design schemes and climates. This design flexibility is a key feature of the collection, allowing clients to tailor each piece to their aesthetic and functional requirements.

The Tilos Collection includes a complete suite of furniture designed for outdoor relaxation and entertaining: armchairs, two-seater sofas, modular sofas, and dining chairs. The dining chairs come in two versions: a stackable armless model for space-saving flexibility and a non-stackable version with armrests for added comfort during longer gatherings.

'With Tilos, the goal was to merge tradition and innovation, balancing artisanal references with the precision of contemporary industrial craftsmanship—creating pieces that feel both timeless and perfectly suited for today's outdoor environments,' Citterio added.

Tilos stands as a compelling example of how historical reference and modern engineering can coexist in harmony, resulting in furniture that feels as at home in a tranquil private garden as it does in a luxury resort. By marrying craftsmanship with technology, the collection offers a sophisticated and adaptable solution for contemporary outdoor living.
