German bedroom furniture manufacturer Nolte Möbel will shut down permanently, following months of insolvency proceedings. Based in Germersheim, the company has informed its remaining 250 employees of the decision, with layoffs announced on Tuesday, 29 April 2025. Final orders are expected to be fulfilled before operations cease entirely.

Nolte Möbel had filed for insolvency in November 2023 at the Landau Regional Court. Despite earlier restructuring efforts and attempts to sustain operations independently, the company was unable to recover. Founded in 1955, Nolte Möbel was once a well-known name in the German furniture sector.
The closure affects only Nolte Möbel GmbH & Co. KG and does not impact the broader Nolte Group or its subsidiaries. The two entities have operated separately since a legal split in September 2020, when the Nolte Group restructured to focus on its kitchen business.
In a previous restructuring update, Oliver Bialowons stepped down as Managing Director in June 2024, with Jan Paschen taking over from July. Despite leadership changes and field service expansion in 2023, the company was unable to reverse its financial decline.
Nolte Möbel had previously received recognition as a "climate-neutral furniture manufacturer" from the German Furniture Quality Association (DGM) in 2021, highlighting its sustainability efforts.
The final closure marks the end of a 70-year legacy in German bedroom furniture manufacturing.
