Anderssen & Voll's outdoor collection continues to expand with new designs, exploring the balance between solidity and softness in outdoor living.
After years of careful research and development in pursuit of the optimal result, Norwegian design practice Anderssen & Voll release the initial design from the studio's outdoor Ville collection for &Tradition, first launched in February of 2023.
The lounge chair, which comes in two variants, with or without teak armrests, served as the inspiration for the entire collection. The essence of Ville's initial vision was captured in the very first hand-sketch, establishing the design language that shaped each piece that followed.
The optically light, latticed-textile seat and backrest, likened by Anderssen to a flying carpet, imparts a sense of weightlessness. Working together to find balance, the seat is then grounded by solid steel legs.
Envisaged to complement the lounge chair and further increase comfort, Anderssen & Voll created a footstool in corresponding materials and a stool, which doubles up as a side table, that mirrors the original outdoor dining table's design language in a more compact form. A new coffee table has also been designed, forming a comprehensive collection, taking the possibilities of outdoor living to a new level.
The Ville collection's material exploration plays a pivotal role in both its functionality and visual identity. Each design is supported by a sleek steel frame to ensure a solid and sturdy base, while the incorporation of teak-seen in the new stool, coffee table, the armrests of the lounge chairs and the armchairs, the dining table and bench-serves to provide warm touchpoints for users.
The Ville pieces come in either Warm Black or Bronze Green - shades that were chosen by the designers to complement the earthy tones found in soil, grass and foliage. The lounge chairs, footstools and stools are stackable to facilitate easy storage, making them a great choice for hospitality spaces or for packing away in residential settings.
