Ege Carpets has announced that CEO Rune Stephansen will step down in July 2025, following the successful completion of a major strategic transformation. The decision was made jointly by Stephansen and the board, with the process of appointing a successor now underway.
Stephansen joined the Herning-based company in 2021 to lead a consolidation strategy that unified Ege Carpets' operations under a single name, management, and corporate culture. The company credited him with implementing structural changes that resulted in improved processes, greater organisational cohesion, and stable financial growth.
In 2023, Ege Carpets reported revenue of DKK 1.2 billion, up from DKK 1.16 billion in 2022. Operating profit rose to DKK 69.8 million, compared with DKK 57 million the previous year. The company employs over 600 people.
Chairman Søren Mygind Eskildsen praised Stephansen's leadership, stating: 'Rune Stephansen has implemented a significant reorganisation and focus with great success and to the full satisfaction of the board of directors.' He added that Stephansen's 'energy and overview' had ensured the company remained stable and engaged throughout the transition, strengthening its foundation for future growth.
Ege Carpets, founded 90 years ago, remains one of Denmark's leading carpet manufacturers.
