Massive fire in Bhiwandi plywood warehouse doused after 40 hours

A massive fire that broke out in a plywood warehouse in Bhiwandi's Rahnal village was finally extinguished after 40 hours of intense firefighting efforts. The blaze, which started around 3:25 AM on Saturday, spread quickly to adjacent godowns, storing plywood, furniture, clothes, and footwear.

Fire officials from Bhiwandi, Thane, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan, and Navi Mumbai worked together to control the flames, with a total of eight fire engines and hundreds of water tankers deployed to the site. Despite their efforts, the fire continued to reignite due to the strong winds, delaying the cooling operation.

Kiran Bhushara, a fire officer from Bhiwandi, stated, 'The fire was brought under control, but due to the wind, it is reigniting. Now, the cooling operation has started.' Fortunately, no casualties or serious injuries were reported. However, two floors of the warehouse building collapsed due to the prolonged fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are working to assess the full extent of the damage.
