First, Arabescato marble is gaining popularity for its bold grey veining and light base, ideal for creating a luxurious and dramatic effect without compromising practicality. Designer Chad Dorsey notes its appeal lies in being both visually impactful and low-maintenance, making it perfect for countertops and back splashes. Prices range from £50 to £150 per square metre.
Next, coloured stone is making a statement. Shades like pink, green, and deep grey are being used on islands and worktops to bring personality and vibrancy to the kitchen. 'Rich or coloured stones are a welcome feature in any kitchen,' says Ben Hawkswell of Roundhouse. Green marble can cost between £69.90 and £192.20 per square metre, while pink marble spans £200 to £2,450 depending on quality.
Finally, black quartzite is rising in popularity thanks to its dramatic aesthetic and superior durability. 'Quartzite is one of the hardest natural stones,' says designer Nishtha. Resistant to heat, stains and UV damage, it's ideal for high-traffic kitchens. Black variants like Vincent and Cosmic Black Quartzite are priced between £295.44 and £415.25 per square metre.
These trends reflect a shift towards expressive yet enduring materials, with natural stone offering both high performance and timeless style.
