Homestore and More to close all UK stores

Homestore+More has announced the closure of all its UK stores, marking a full withdrawal from the British retail market. The Irish homeware chain will shut its locations in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, and Edinburgh by the end of May.

The decision comes just seven years after the retailer expanded into Scotland in 2018, where it had previously won "Scotland's Best Choice" award. Although the company has not disclosed the reasons behind its UK exit, a major closing down sale is currently underway, and its UK website has been taken offline.

Despite the closures, Homestore+More confirmed that its Irish operations will continue. The brand operates over 20 stores across Ireland, including in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Mayo, Donegal, Meath, and Kerry, and employs more than 900 people. The first store opened in Tallaght in 2004.

The move follows a wider trend of physical retail contraction in the UK, with other major retailers such as Boots also reducing their high street presence in favour of online sales. However, Homestore+More's Irish stores remain unaffected and continue to serve customers.

The closures have left many UK customers disappointed, particularly in Scotland, where the brand had become a popular destination for home essentials and décor.
