A German-Austrian kitchen appliance manufacturer, Bora has announced the construction of its own production facility at its headquarters in Niederndorf, Tyrol. The new factory is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2026.
This strategic investment marks a significant step for Bora towards greater independence and efficiency. The company aims to shorten the path from development to market by producing in proximity to its technical teams. 'The schedule for the vertical factory is ambitious,' the company stated.
Bora chose to build locally in the Bavarian-Austrian border region, rather than relocating production abroad where labour costs may be lower. The decision reflects a commitment to innovation, quality, and responsiveness to customer needs. According to Bora, the short distance between development and production will enable faster implementation of innovations and quicker adaptation to market demands.
Bora founder and CEO Willi Bruckbauer described the project as a transformative milestone. 'The factory is a clearly visible sign to the outside world that our company is continuously evolving,' he said. 'The transition from buy to make represents a real transformation for every employee.'
Recruitment for production roles is already under way, with human resources teams actively building new teams and designing modern manufacturing processes using the latest technologies. While establishing its own production capabilities, Bora will maintain relationships with external manufacturing partners to complement its growing capacity.
