Sales rose by 4% to nearly £300m in the year to 3 August 2024, with UK revenues increasing to £276m and exports up 6.7% to £23.6m. Store sales grew by 5%, and the home category was up 4%. Online sales saw a 1% annual uplift, although there was a 4% decline in the second half of the year due to operational changes.
The White Company, the fashion, homeware and home furnishings' retailer, reported turnover of £299.7m, up from £287.2m in 2023. Pre-tax profit, however, fell to £20.7m from £32.2m, attributed in part to the disruption caused by the transition to a new distribution centre in Corby.
Despite the challenges, the company continued to expand its physical presence. It opened its first store in Northern Ireland, located in Belfast, and launched five small format stores across Farnham, Hitchin, Morpeth, Ringwood and St Andrews, all of which are reported to be trading "ahead of expectations". In July 2024, it also opened its first international store in the Dubai Mall.
The company remains focused on long-term growth, with physical retail continuing to perform strongly alongside a steady e-commerce presence.
