Pedro Almodóvar and Roche Bobois unite in a celebration of colour and cinema

Roche Bobois unveiled a bold new collaboration with internationally renowned Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar, presenting the Cromática Collection: a limited-edition line of furniture, rugs, lighting, and accessories inspired by the vibrant, emotionally charged aesthetics of Almodóvar's cinematic universe.

This unprecedented partnership brought together two creative forces united by a deep commitment to the power of colour. 'Colour is a common language shared by Pedro Almodóvar and Roche Bobois: for the film director and brand alike, it plays a vital role in design and emotion,' the brand stated.

Almodóvar, who recently received the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for The Room Next Door, is celebrated for his flamboyant visuals, emotional depth and exploration of identity. With Cromática, he infused the world of interior design with the same visual storytelling that has defined his films for decades.

The centrepiece of the collection is the El Deseo Lounge: a reissue of Hans Hopfer's iconic modular sofa, upholstered in fabrics created by Almodóvar himself, each featuring film posters from classics such as Volver, Talk to Her, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!. Limited to just 50 signed and numbered units, this collector's piece is a graphic tribute to his legacy. A plain-fabric version is also available, echoing the spirit of the original 1971 design.

Complementing the sofa is the Pedro cocktail table, featuring a tabletop replicating one of the director's own photographs. The Pepa range of tables, designed by Maurizio Manzoni, reflects Almodóvar's signature block shapes and bold palette.

To mark the occasion, Roche Bobois also collaborated with Rossy de Palma, Almodóvar's long-time muse and an icon in her own right. Known for her eclectic presence in cinema, fashion and visual arts, she contributed a capsule collection that radiates her theatrical flair.

'I envisioned a unique, poetic vanity with a mirror depicting an eye, in which you look at your reflection to take care of yourself,' said Rossy de Palma of her striking The Eye vanity. Other standout pieces include the Peineta lighting range, floor and table lamps inspired by the traditional Spanish hair comb, and the Abanico vases, paying homage to her emblematic fan accessory.

The Bubble sofa, designed by Sacha Lakic, was reimagined in four new Almodóvar-inspired hues, marking its 10th anniversary. The Rondo china units feature images from the filmmaker's graphic archive, and a variety of Cromática rugs and cushions translate cinematic moments into tactile expressions.

Through Cromática, Roche Bobois and Almodóvar have created a vivid dialogue between cinema and interior design, "a manifesto of both art and design", in a collection where furniture becomes storytelling, and colour is the protagonist.
