Nuura transforms workplace well-being through innovative lighting at EY Stockholm HQ

Danish lighting specialist Nuura has brought its distinctive blend of Nordic elegance and biological sensitivity to the forefront of modern workplace design with its lighting solutions at Ernst & Young's LEED Platinum-certified headquarters in Stockholm. This landmark project exemplifies Nuura's philosophy of harmonising form, function and well-being through light.

Founded in 2017, Nuura has consistently demonstrated how expertly designed lighting enhances emotional and physical experiences in the workplace. At EY Stockholm, Nuura's installations create an environment that blends the comfort of home with the functionality of a cutting-edge office, all while reflecting the serene beauty of its Nordic surroundings.

Throughout the multifunctional workspace, Nuura's lighting design promotes health, creativity, and interaction. The scheme uses layered lighting to transition seamlessly between collaborative and individual work modes. Key collections were thoughtfully selected to define different zones: the Miira 4 and 6 Circular chandeliers create focal points in group areas; Blossi Table In-Set lamps offer intimate lighting for solo work; and the Apiales Collection adds elegance to meeting and breakout areas.

'These projects showcase how lighting shapes workplace wellbeing,' said Sofie Refer, lighting designer at Nuura. 'Understanding the impact of light, our solutions harmonise natural light and seasonal changes. Using integrated technological adjustments to adjust energising daylight to warmer evening illumination, we ensure employees' natural rhythms are supported while maintaining our signature elegant design aesthetic.'

The Miira collection, designed by Sofie Refer, is rooted in simplicity and classic design. The Miira 4 and Miira 6 Circular chandeliers feature mouth-blown glass globes in optic clear or opal white, with adjustable hanging systems and powder-coated metal frames. Their refined curves and ambient glow are ideal for receptions and breakout zones, adding sophistication while enhancing light quality.

Refer's Apiales Collection, inspired by floral elegance, includes chandeliers with 9 or 18 globes in brushed brass or satin black. The design balances beauty with function, with optic clear versions casting captivating reflections and opal white options diffusing light evenly—perfect for receptions and desk areas. The Apiales 18, with its striking 90cm diameter, makes a bold visual statement in larger spaces.

Meanwhile, the Blossi Table In-Set, also designed by Refer, is seamlessly built into tabletops, combining Nordic gold or black finishes with clear glass domes. 'I am truly inspired by light in the Nordic. I strive to balance simplicity and grandeur and create light that has a pure yet sensuous expression,' said Refer. The lamp's soft, golden light and flicker-free LED technology align with EU energy efficiency standards while creating a serene work atmosphere.

This collaboration at EY Stockholm showcases Nuura's commitment to design that nurtures productivity and wellness. By understanding the interplay of natural and artificial light and integrating this knowledge into architectural elements, Nuura continues to set new standards for modern workplace lighting across Scandinavia and beyond.
